Steve Rees

Steve has twenty years of business experience and an MBA Diploma from Henley Management College to draw on when working with clients.  As the founder and Chief Executive of  Balance Leisure Ltd, he raised £1.3M to purchase and develop Hunters the Health Club in Kettering.

The club was re-branded in 2003 as Balance Health Clubs and with good marketing and sound management the club built up to a membership of over 2,000 within a year.

The success of this business was built on a clear marketing plan, tight membership management and diversification of the business into a fully featured club. The club was sold in 2008 after six years and continues to trade today.

Steve founded Activate Business Development in 2009 to help small businesses plan and implement their marketing much as he had done for Balance Leisure Ltd and the fourteen other Health clubs he opened prior to going it alone!

Activate Business Development specialises in Marketing Planning, data capture through Lead Boxes and CRM all of which have been key to the success of businesses Steve has run in the past.

Steve has recently co-founded a new start-up My Fit Pass and online marketing portal for health clubs and gyms across the UK providing fitness facilities for people where and when they need them on a pay as you go basis.



Jenine graduated from Cardiff University in 1989 before pursuing a career within marketing. Whilst working for brewers Scottish Courage Ltd Jenine worked in PR, Sponsorship and Event Management, working on major brands John Smith and Fosters. This included national marketing campaigns and events such as the British Grand Prix, Sponsorship of Great Britain, England and Welsh Rugby League teams, Major horse racing events, TV sponsorship, as well as conferences for product launches, overseas travel and hospitality.

After having two children Jenine returned to work in 2005 to assist in the Operational Management of Balance Health Club.


Stuart has over 15 years experience at senior level in the UK pharmaceutical industry in sales and marketing, this included being in the team starting Ashfield Healthcare in

1997, this business provided contract sales forces to the industry, growing to the second largest provider in the UK employing over 600 people, it was then sold in 2000.

Following this Stuart worked delivering marketing and sales solutions to a variety of businesses including Marlow Foods the manufacturers of ‘Quorn Products’ and LLoyds Chemists. Also taking some time to lecture in Pre MBA Courses on Marketing, Strategic Planning and Business Finance at The West London College.  Stuart has run The Best of Kettering for 5 years and works with Steve in Activate BD Ltd.
